Back-to-School Banana Oat Breakfast Smoothie for Kids

  • Author: Thea
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

A quick, 5-minute healthy breakfast smoothie designed for busy mornings. It combines ripe bananas, rolled oats, and peanut butter for a filling, creamy drink that kids love and parents can trust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium ripe bananas (peeled and chopped)
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (smooth)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 handful spinach (optional)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and chop them into quarters or smaller pieces.
  2. Pour the milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
  3. Add the rolled oats, peanut butter, honey (if using), and any optional mix-ins like spinach or yogurt.
  4. Add the banana chunks on top of the other ingredients.
  5. Blend on high for 45-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy with no oat bits.
  6. Taste and adjust consistency by adding more milk if too thick or ice/frozen banana if too thin.
  7. Pour immediately into cups and serve.

Notes

For a smoother texture with a weaker blender, soak the oats in the milk for 5-10 minutes before blending. Frozen bananas can be used for a thicker, frostier consistency. This smoothie is best consumed fresh, but ingredients can be prepped and frozen in bags for quick morning assembly.
