Description
These simple breakfast sandwiches feature buttery, flaky croissants filled with ham and melted cheddar cheese. Ready in under 15 minutes, they offer a bakery-quality crunch without the hassle or high cost.
Ingredients
- 6 large butter croissants (frozen or fresh)
- 6 slices ham (thick-cut deli or Virginia ham preferred)
- 6 slices cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing tops)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the croissants in half horizontally.
- Place the bottom halves of the croissants on the baking sheet.
- Lay one slice of ham on each bottom half, followed by one slice of cheese.
- Top with the upper halves of the croissants.
- If using, brush the tops lightly with melted butter.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the croissants are golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 2 minutes before serving.
Notes
Frozen croissants are recommended as they hold their shape better than fresh ones. If cheese isn’t melting, check oven temperature. For a crispy bottom, place the baking sheet on the middle rack. Avoid microwaving leftovers if you want to maintain crispiness; reheat in oven or toaster oven at 350°F for 5 minutes.
