Crispy Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Fries

  • Author: Thea
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Stupidly fast and actually crispy frozen fries tossed in garlic, spices, and fresh parmesan cheese, ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) frozen French fries (crinkle-cut or steak fries)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (50g) freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Do not thaw the frozen fries; keep them frozen to ensure crispiness.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the frozen fries with olive oil until lightly coated and shiny.
  3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt to the bowl. Toss again to ensure an even layer of seasoning on every fry.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 10 minutes. At the 5-minute mark, shake the basket vigorously to flip and separate the fries.
  7. After 10 minutes, remove the basket and sprinkle the freshly grated parmesan cheese evenly over the hot fries.
  8. Toss gently to distribute the cheese. Return to the air fryer for 2 more minutes to melt the cheese, watching closely to prevent burning.
  9. Remove from air fryer, sprinkle with dried parsley and red pepper flakes (if using), and toss one last time.
  10. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Do not thaw the fries before cooking. Use freshly grated parmesan cheese, as pre-grated cheese contains anti-caking agents that prevent proper melting and sticking. Shake the basket every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking and crispiness. Do not overcrowd the basket, or the fries will steam instead of crisp.
