Description
Stupidly fast and actually crispy frozen fries tossed in garlic, spices, and fresh parmesan cheese, ready in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) frozen French fries (crinkle-cut or steak fries)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (50g) freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Do not thaw the frozen fries; keep them frozen to ensure crispiness.
- In a large bowl, toss the frozen fries with olive oil until lightly coated and shiny.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt to the bowl. Toss again to ensure an even layer of seasoning on every fry.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
- Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 10 minutes. At the 5-minute mark, shake the basket vigorously to flip and separate the fries.
- After 10 minutes, remove the basket and sprinkle the freshly grated parmesan cheese evenly over the hot fries.
- Toss gently to distribute the cheese. Return to the air fryer for 2 more minutes to melt the cheese, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from air fryer, sprinkle with dried parsley and red pepper flakes (if using), and toss one last time.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
Notes
Do not thaw the fries before cooking. Use freshly grated parmesan cheese, as pre-grated cheese contains anti-caking agents that prevent proper melting and sticking. Shake the basket every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking and crispiness. Do not overcrowd the basket, or the fries will steam instead of crisp.
