Description
A refreshing, tart, and spicy summer mocktail made with fresh blackberries, ginger, lime, and sparkling water. Ready in just five minutes, this vibrant drink is perfect for parties or hot days.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh blackberries (300g)
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 3–4 limes, juiced (approx. 1/2 cup)
- 2–3 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
- 1.5 cups sparkling water or club soda
- Ice cubes
- Lime wheels for garnish
- Optional: Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Peel the ginger root and grate it using a zester or microplane to get about 1 tablespoon of grated ginger.
- Place the blackberries in the bottom of a large pitcher or jar. Add the grated ginger and honey.
- Muddle the mixture with a muddler or the back of a spoon until the berries are crushed and releasing their juices.
- Squeeze the limes and add the juice to the berry mixture. Stir well and let sit for a minute to allow flavors to meld.
- Add about 1 cup of cold water to thin the syrup. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
- Just before serving, gently pour in the sparkling water to preserve carbonation. Stir lightly.
- Fill glasses with ice, pour the mixture over the ice, and garnish with lime wheels and mint if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, use cold ingredients. The base mixture (berries, ginger, lime, honey) can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge; add sparkling water just before serving to maintain fizz. If you prefer a smoother drink, strain the berry mixture before adding the sparkling water. You can substitute blackberries with raspberries or blueberries.
