Description
A simple, crunchy, and savory-sweet snack made with pantry staples. These roasted chickpeas are high in protein and fiber, offering a healthier alternative to chips that stays crisp for hours.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cans (15 oz each) chickpeas
- 3 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil (or neutral oil like avocado/vegetable)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Drain and rinse chickpeas in a colander. Pat them completely dry using coffee filters or a clean kitchen towel to ensure crispiness.
- In a large bowl, whisk together sriracha, honey, oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create the glaze.
- Add the dried chickpeas to the bowl and toss thoroughly until evenly coated.
- Spread chickpeas in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are not crowded.
- Roast for 25-30 minutes, shaking the pan or stirring halfway through, until golden brown and crunchy.
- Let cool on the pan for at least 10 minutes to firm up before serving.
Notes
Ensure chickpeas are thoroughly dried before roasting to prevent sogginess. Do not overcrowd the baking sheet; use two pans if necessary. They continue to crisp up as they cool. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Do not refrigerate.
