Iced Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew

  • Author: Thea
  • Total Time: 15 minutes (plus 12-24 hours for cold brew steeping)
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A homemade version of the popular café drink featuring smooth cold brew coffee topped with a luxurious, vanilla-infused sweet cream layer. It is easy to make, saves money, and tastes better than store-bought versions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cold brew coffee concentrate
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons simple syrup
  • Ice cubes (large preferred)
  • Optional: Whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Make simple syrup by heating 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar in a saucepan until dissolved, then cool.
  2. In a bowl, combine 1 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup whole milk, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons simple syrup.
  3. Whisk vigorously or use an electric frother until the mixture is combined and slightly thickened but still pourable.
  4. If making cold brew from scratch, steep 1 cup coarse ground coffee in 4 cups cold water for 12-24 hours, then strain.
  5. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  6. Pour 1/2 cup cold brew concentrate over the ice.
  7. Add 1-2 tablespoons of simple syrup to the coffee and stir gently.
  8. Slowly pour the sweet cream mixture over the back of a spoon to float it on top of the coffee.
  9. Serve immediately with a straw, allowing the cream to mix gradually as you sip.

Notes

Use coarse ground coffee for cold brew to avoid bitterness. Ensure cream and milk are very cold to help the sweet cream float. Large ice cubes melt slower and prevent dilution. The sweet cream mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
