Description
A creamy, comforting, and anti-inflammatory plant-based latte made with turmeric, coconut milk, and warming spices. It provides steady energy without the jitters of coffee and is ready in just five minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (13.5 oz / 400ml) full-fat canned coconut milk
- 1 cup (240ml) water
- 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: pinch of cardamom or nutmeg
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine turmeric powder, ground ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, vanilla extract, and maple syrup. Mix with a spoon until a thick, dark paste forms.
- Pour in the water and the full-fat canned coconut milk. Stir everything together with a whisk.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Whisk constantly to prevent clumping and burning. Heat until steaming (about 160-170°F / 70-75°C), but do not let it boil.
- Remove from heat. Use a handheld milk frother or whisk vigorously to create foam.
- Pour into a mug and garnish with a pinch of cinnamon or turmeric if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Black pepper is essential to increase curcumin absorption. Use full-fat canned coconut milk for creaminess; carton milk will result in a watery drink. Do not boil the mixture as it may cause the coconut milk to separate. Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
