Halloween Mummy Jalapeno Popper Bites

  • Author: Thea
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Description

These spooky yet delicious jalapeno popper bites are wrapped in crescent dough to look like mummies. They are protein-packed, customizable in heat, and ready in just 10 minutes of prep time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (8 oz) crescent roll dough
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 23 medium jalapenos, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, minced garlic, and chopped green onions until smooth.
  3. Fold in the sliced jalapenos into the cheese mixture.
  4. Unroll the crescent dough and cut it into 1-inch wide strips.
  5. Place a generous spoonful (about 1 tablespoon) of the cheese filling at one end of a dough strip.
  6. Roll the dough tightly around the filling, leaving the top exposed to create the ‘mummy head’ look.
  7. Wrap another strip of dough around the middle like a bandage. Repeat with remaining dough and filling.
  8. Whisk the egg with a splash of water and brush the tops of the mummies lightly.
  9. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning if using.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  11. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Do not overfill the mummies to prevent bursting. If using canned jalapenos, drain and pat them dry to avoid soggy dough. These can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated, or frozen raw before baking.
